About the Mezuzah: The Mezuzah is a symbol that can be seen on the right-hand doorpost in every Jewish household. It acknowledges God's sovereignty over the home.  The mezuzah is affixed on the doorpost on the right side of the door at about eye-level (about one third of the way down from the top of the door). It is always inclined slightly inwardly. Within is a parchment bearing the words of Deuteronomy 6: "Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord...And thou shalt write them (the words of God) upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. " Having a mezuzah on your door, touching it and then touching your lips, will remind you to keep the word of God on your lips as you enter and leave your home. Parchments for Mezuzahs: Our parchment contains the correct scriptures from the Torah and was originally written by hand by a Rabbi. It was then copied by machine for use in our mezuzahs. Individual hand written parchments would be cost-prohibitive for our type of mezuzahs. In Judaism, the name of G-d is not written or spoken. On our parchments, the space for the name of G-d is blacked out rather than being written.
