Biblical Archaeology Society
For decades the debate about whether or not Biblical archaeology even exists has raged. Many have made their peace with the term, but what does it mean? And how did we get it? The issues that surround the name of the discipline largely come down to questions of method. Part of the methodological concern revolves around how to deal with unprovenanced (material found outside a registered excavation) artifacts.
These issues and more are explored by first-rate scholars in this lecture set. You will be taken on a journey that explores how Biblical archaeology began, the controversies it has encountered, and finally a look at what is to come.
