A Study on the Commandment of Tzitzit
Mayim Chayim Series
"Speak to the people of Israel, tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments … and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner." (Numbers 15:38)
- How was this commandment observed by the ancient Israelites?
- What is the significance of wearing strings on the four corners of a garment?
- Is this mitzvah applicable to all disciples of Yeshua today?
God tells the children of Israel to put tzitzit on the four corners of their garments in order not to follow after their own hearts but instead to remember the commandments of God. In Tzitzit we will explore the mitzvah of tzitzit and discover the rich symbolism associated with this commandment.
Tzitzit will take you on an in-depth study as we explore together this peculiar mitzvah. We will journey from the Torah text to ancient near-eastern culture, to the words of our Master, and to rabbinic writings, spanning a period of almost two thousand years, in an effort to unlock the key of the tzitzit. This fully Messianic study will also address the issues and difficulties involved in the practical application of this commandment for both Jewish and Gentile believers in Messiah.
